Models such as the EC 135 require the use of an aluminium tail rotor in order to cope with the structural requirements of the Fenestron. For 3-D flying this type of tail rotor is also preferred due to its heavy-duty bevel gears, but nevertheless accurate adjustment is always required for successful flying.
