inside diameter (I.D.) x outside diameter (O.D.) x thickness.
For flanged bearings the same applies, since the flange is not included in the dimensions. Reasonably priced plain bushes fulfil the same purpose as bearings but they should only be used on the non threaded part of a screw (not on the threaded section) and must be changed as soon as play is detected.

Important: the inner ring of a ballrace (in roll-axis levers, mixer cranks etc.) must be free to rotate. Shim washers are used to provide clearance where necessary. Shim washers are also used to compensate for excessive clearance which may result when tolerances accumulate.
